Margento Telecommunication Access Point
Margento Telecommunications Access Point (MTAP) is a low level part of Margento system through which the Mobile Network Operators (MNO-s) integrate with Margento system on telecommunication level.
MTAP is typically installed at Mobile network operator location and is directly or indirectly (through protocol converters) connected to Mobile Switching Center (MSC). If multiple MNO-s are connected to Margento system multiple MTAP-s are installed, one for each network operator. MTAP components run on dedicated servers, for greater performance and availability MTAP is typically installed as a cluster with at least two separate physical servers. Performance can be easily increased by adding additional servers to cluster which allows cost efficient system grow when required.
The main task of the MTAP is to provide Margento system a telecommunication interface to MNO-s telecommunication infrastructure. Furthermore, it provides transparent and secure communication between Margento terminals and Margento processing system. It integrates an IVR system that guides user through the whole process of using the Margento system.
Tasks in MTAP’s domain are:
- Accepting incoming calls
Accepting incoming calls and starts a voice dialog with a customer if the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) is used for a specific scenario. - Amount handling
Intercepting any definitions that may be part of dialed number and convert them into appropriate information for MPS (e.g. amount handling as an extension of dialed number, account index, etc.). - Terminal authentication
Margento Terminal is authenticated by verifying its digital signature. This step is performed by the Crypto Server that processes all security related operations on behalf of other components. - Customer identification
Customer identification is based on MSISDN number of mobile phone device. - Customer authentication
Authentication is performed based on account PIN that is entered by a customer through Margento POS keypad. End-to-end encryption is assured, providing that PIN is transferred towards issuer in a secure manner.
