Telekom Slovenia and the Ljubljana city transport company presented a mobile application for the Urbana city card.
The application has been awarded first place at the international conference for Transport & Ticketing in London, adding a prestigious MasterCard Transport Ticketing Award to the already broad repertoire of honours the Urbana project has already received.
With many similar products presented at the conference, from USA, Germany, France, Portugal etc., the Urbana case stood out as the most successful program and system for mobile ticketing and ticket management. The solution has brought additional value to the already blossoming infrastructure.
The application will initially be available to Android and Symbian users with NFC support but will later be expanded to all platforms, completely covering all services the current card payment system offers. With the addition to the services offered by the Urbana card, the Urbana application offers all the advantages of the Moneta payment system, enabling contactless, walletless and effortless payment across the city. With free wireless internet connection already covering Ljubljana, the Urbana application can additionally display bus schedules and arrival times and with GPS find the nearest bus station for a selected route, making city transport a very welcome mode of travel for citizens and visitors.
